• PRESS RELEASE : Sportscover Europe’s NED Roger Draper to become Rugby Football League Chief Commercial Officer
01 December 2016
Sportscover Europe Ltd non-executive director Roger Draper is set to join Rugby Football League as chief commercial officer in December. He will also be appointed an executive director of Super League. He is currently Super League club Warrington Wolves chief executive.
The 46-year-old, who has previously served as chief executive of the Lawn Tennis Association, joins the RFL in December as part of a significant shake-up.
Draper will head up all activity undertaken by the governing body’s commercial, marketing, communications, ticketing and events teams and also become the public face of Super League.
The role is set to make him the joint second most powerful man in English rugby league behind RFL chief executive Nigel Wood, alongside chief operating officer Ralph Rimmer.
“I am delighted to be joining the RFL at an incredibly exciting time for the organisation,” said Draper.
“The role is an important and challenging position and one that I feel will enable me to add real value to the sport of rugby league.
“Whilst I am of course sad to be leaving the Warrington Wolves and in particular the board, staff, players and fans behind, I am excited to be joining another forward-thinking and successful organisation and I can’t wait to get started in December.”
